Teaching Children With Language Difficulties

Wednesday, February 20th, 2019

Peel Language Development School is an independent public specialist school in Western Australia. It specialises in early intervention services for students with language disorders from Kindy to Year 3. If you feel that your child could use some help with their schooling please don’t hesitate to contact them.

Our son Nate was diagnosed with Autism when he was 3 years old. The early intervention with the language therapy really helped his communication and his ability to learn. He is too old to attend this school now but I strongly recommend those who have a young child with learning difficulties to seek help. Life is easier for everyone involved, especially your child.

Watch this video we produced with the school and learn more about what they could provide your child with.

DIY Trip Wire Arrow Trap – Another Invention

Wednesday, January 16th, 2019

So Craig is at it again with his crazy inventions! If you need a smile today, take a little break and watch

How to make a simple Mouse trap / rat trap that fires a dart when triggered via a trip wire –  Seriously though this isn’t intended for actual use on mice and rats, it’s way too dodgy.

Make sure you subscribe to his channel Turnah81 so you don’t miss any further craziness!

And here is a little how to update video where Craig explains his thought process

And finally his very eagerly anticipated mouse trap to the extreme video!

Heritage Photography – The Esplanade Hotel

Wednesday, January 9th, 2019

Recently the Esplanade Hotel in Port Hedland had a refurbishment and I was hired to take some heritage photos around Port and South Hedland for them to hang on their walls and place in their menu.

My brief was, the photos had to be at heritage sites in Port Hedland, they had to be black and white and they had to be in portrait framing. The portrait thing nearly killed me but I always love a photo challenge! Here are a few of my favs.

Here is how they were used in the new look restaurant.

Stand up Comedians make our job hard!

Wednesday, January 2nd, 2019

Recently we visited the Comedy Lounge in the city to film a cinema advert. It was so difficult to keep the camera steady from laughing so hard at the comedians!
Do yourself a favour and go check it out, I promise you it is worth it!

South West Australian Arts Festival

Wednesday, December 19th, 2018

Every year The City of Mandurah holds a Stretch Arts Festival which showcases art and music in a free event. We were hired to create a highlight video of the weekend of activities. Craig and I enjoy videoing these types of events as you are able to capture people naturally having fun without being aware of the camera.

Throughout the two day festival, participants experience and enjoy performance, dance, music, visual arts, theatre and outdoor activities with events being delivered by renown and upcoming local, Australian and international companies and artists. Check out the video we made showing the highlights of the weekend. Definitely worth a visit if you can make it in 2019.

Best drone of 2018 – Homemade “Cooler Drone”

Wednesday, December 12th, 2018

So Craig is up to his inventions again! This time it is a DIY Drone Cooler, a flying Esky!

This is a tongue in cheek video so unfortunately it cannot carry a whole carton of beer and there isn’t really a cooler drone app, but the rest is actually real and it really does fly (I have flown it myself!).

This video has been 6 months in the making. The filming was an huge undertaking shot entirely with just 2 crew (apart from some “Extras” for scenes) – and often only 1 person. We shot it completely out of sight from the public- to keep it under wraps until we could complete the whole video. This meant some tricky locations had to be used. The drone build took about 4 weeks alone, literally Craig’s whole summer break – and then some. We aren’t sure if this is an invention, an artwork or a short film. I guess it is kind of all three? Yes Craig really did throw the bottle(s) at me but I’m kind of used to him doing that now, I feel like it is part of the filming process! Make sure you check out the blooper reel, pretty funny stuff!

It was built using DJI parts, mostly the DJI Phantom 3. More information and build pictures on Craig’s blog

and you can also watch the build video here.

So we were lucky enough that this short film was a finalist for Australia’s Funniest Shorts for 2017. It was awesome to hear live reactions from the public.

Autism Awareness Day – April 2nd

Wednesday, December 5th, 2018

Of all the work we do and all the videos that we make, this is the most important to Craig and myself.
Our son Nate was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder when he was 3 years old. He attends a mainstream school with the help of a special needs aide.
The school holds an Awareness Day every year to teach children about the disability and difference.

Through education comes understanding and through understanding comes acceptance.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if all school’s embraced this?

Mental Health Awareness Video #GotYourBack campaign

Wednesday, November 28th, 2018

Compass Group Australia wanted to help their employees who are struggling with mental health but haven’t as yet asked for help. Unfortunately there has been suicides with fly in fly out employees in the past. I love the very pro active approach that Compass are taking to help not only their employees but anyone else who gets the opportunity to watch this video.

So over the last few months they flew me to Darwin and Brisbane in Australia to capture these brave employees who were willing to share their stories to help others in this very important video about mental health. These are real stories from real people who want to help you! Remember there is always help out there we have #gotyourback
