How To Make A Cat Repellent Automatic Sprinkler

Thursday, May 23rd, 2019

Craig has released a new video on his “how to” youtube channel, Turnah81 and with it an ebook. That’s right, Craig is now a published author!
So the video and book is simple instructions on how to make your own automatic sprinkler animal repellent for only $15 in parts.

Commercial versions of this concept can be really expensive- ranging from $80 to $190! Which is partly what inspired Craig to come up with this design.

This simple project can be used:

  • As a Cat or Dog Repellent
  • Animal Deterrent for other backyard pest like Squirrels, Bears, Possums, Raccoons & Deer
  • Use it to stop a pet dog digging in your yard
  • To stop ducks sitting on your pool
  • Prevent birds from killing fish in a pond
  • Keep birds off a window ledge
  • Prank friends or family
  • or even as a fun & educational school science project.

Foam cutter – How to make it the easy way!

Wednesday, March 20th, 2019

So I have been busy with my youtube channel over the summer and have made a few “how to” videos that nobody asked for.

Making your own Foam Cutter

How to build a foam cutting table the simple way… to cut foam, styrofoam or plastic. There are many of videos showing different ways to build your own hot wire foam cutter or “styro-slicer” (ie King of Random) which are all great builds- but time consuming. If you are after a quick easy DIY method to make a homemade foam cutter – then this is for you. I needed a styrofoam cutter for a project that was cheap, full size, could cut angles & had variable heat – plus could be made quickly – from what I have seen this is the most full featured, yet easy way to make a professional size foam cutter.

DJI Mavic Air – Landscapes in Greece

Wednesday, March 13th, 2019

Last year we were fortunate enough to go on a family holiday to Greece. My father was born in Sparta and we decided to go visit together with my parents and our kids to see his birth place.

What Drone to Take on Holiday?

Because to be honest we really aren’t going anywhere without one! We already have a DJI Phantom 4 drone but it is bulky and inconvenient to take on holiday, it needs its own whole backpack to travel. So we decided to purchase a small holiday drone that we could fit into existing backpacks, was light but also took great stills and video. After much research we went with the DJI Mavic Air.

We were thrilled with the quality, the ease of use and the portability. Here are some photos we took while away in a beautiful country.

DIY Trip Wire Arrow Trap – Another Invention

Wednesday, January 16th, 2019

So Craig is at it again with his crazy inventions! If you need a smile today, take a little break and watch

How to make a simple Mouse trap / rat trap that fires a dart when triggered via a trip wire –  Seriously though this isn’t intended for actual use on mice and rats, it’s way too dodgy.

Make sure you subscribe to his channel Turnah81 so you don’t miss any further craziness!

And here is a little how to update video where Craig explains his thought process

And finally his very eagerly anticipated mouse trap to the extreme video!

Best drone of 2018 – Homemade “Cooler Drone”

Wednesday, December 12th, 2018

So Craig is up to his inventions again! This time it is a DIY Drone Cooler, a flying Esky!

This is a tongue in cheek video so unfortunately it cannot carry a whole carton of beer and there isn’t really a cooler drone app, but the rest is actually real and it really does fly (I have flown it myself!).

This video has been 6 months in the making. The filming was an huge undertaking shot entirely with just 2 crew (apart from some “Extras” for scenes) – and often only 1 person. We shot it completely out of sight from the public- to keep it under wraps until we could complete the whole video. This meant some tricky locations had to be used. The drone build took about 4 weeks alone, literally Craig’s whole summer break – and then some. We aren’t sure if this is an invention, an artwork or a short film. I guess it is kind of all three? Yes Craig really did throw the bottle(s) at me but I’m kind of used to him doing that now, I feel like it is part of the filming process! Make sure you check out the blooper reel, pretty funny stuff!

It was built using DJI parts, mostly the DJI Phantom 3. More information and build pictures on Craig’s blog

and you can also watch the build video here.

So we were lucky enough that this short film was a finalist for Australia’s Funniest Shorts for 2017. It was awesome to hear live reactions from the public.

Autism Awareness Day – April 2nd

Wednesday, December 5th, 2018

Of all the work we do and all the videos that we make, this is the most important to Craig and myself.
Our son Nate was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder when he was 3 years old. He attends a mainstream school with the help of a special needs aide.
The school holds an Awareness Day every year to teach children about the disability and difference.

Through education comes understanding and through understanding comes acceptance.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if all school’s embraced this?

Over $1500 for Madi’s Surgery!

Monday, August 17th, 2015

On Saturday we raised $1,564.85 for Madi Molloy!

We couldn’t have done it without the help of Rockingham Shopping Centre who donated a $500 gift card and a brand new bicycle that we successfully raffled off.

Thank you so much for everyone who donated and for the wonderful mascots from Chipmunks Port Kennedy who gave up their time to help a special girl.

The 6 year old dance girls from Pure Beat Dance were there all day selling books and cricket sets and being so cute that nobody could walk past them yelling “would you like to make a gold coin dalmation???”

If you haven’t made a donation yet, don’t worry we are doing a sausage sizzle this Sunday at Masters Home Improvement in Baldivis or you can just make a one off donation to Madi’s go fund web page

Hope to see you there!

Join us on Saturday 15th August at Rockingham Shopping Centre to help raise funds for Madi Molloy and her family.

11 year old Madi was diagnosed with an advanced brain tumour in February 2014. She’s currently booked in for surgery this month after a scan showed her tumour was growing.

The surgery costs $100,000.

Madi is our daughter Jasmine’s dance instructor at Pure Beat Dance. So this cause has hit us all as a family and our local community.

Jasmine and her fellow dance class with Madi

As a wonderful show of charitable spirit, members of the community are banding together to help raise funds for Madi and because of this she is almost halfway there.

We still however need to raise over $50 000 for this life saving surgery.

Together with Rockingham Shopping Centre, we will be holding a fundraising day for Madi on Saturday 15th August outside the jewellery store Shiels to help raise the rest of the funds for her necessary surgery to stay alive.

We will be raffling a $500 Rockingham gift card and giving away books and cricket sets for a gold coin donation. If you would like to make a one off donation here is a link to the donation page http://www.gofundme.com/waawv4m

Thank you all for making a difference

There is no treatment, there is no cure.

We Make Another Viral Short Film – How to Stop Cats Forever

Saturday, February 2nd, 2013

This is the sequel to my viral short film How to Stop Cats Pissing on Your Car – The Best Cat Video Ever! It follows on my struggle and solution to my problem with neigbourhood cats urinating on my car and property.

Craig welding together the “device”

Seriously I don’t hate cats, This video was the result of a legitimate ongoing problem we have had with cats in our area. Washing cat urine off our doors and cars was becoming an increasingly time consuming and frustrating part of our weekly routine. Not to mention the many nights lost sleep with cat fights, we have even had property damage.

Basically I thought “bugger it”, why not turn our problem into entertainment? Everyone likes a funny cat video on youtube 😉

So what’s it about?

In the sequel I take the basic concept of the first video and just make it…well…extreme. I don’t want to give too much away, you will just need to watch the video. So far it has been received very well with over 230 000 views. Plus it has just become a finalist for the short film competition Rottofest. The winner will be announced on Sunday 8th September.
